In 1992, Lee Heeson and his family were holidaying near to Tywyn, Gwynedd. Whilst walking along a hillside, Lee spotted an old, disused Army camp and thought that the main road of the camp
would make a fantastic race circuit for
motorbikes and sidecars.

Lee was a long standing member of

Crewe & South Cheshire Motor Club
and with the backing of the club,
along with their friends at
Nantwich
and District Motor Club, the first race
meeting at Tonfanau was held in 1993.

To keep the circuit alive, Paul Myler, John & Jean Price volunteered to take on the running of the circuit along with some members of the existing team that wanted to stay involved.

From this collaboration,
TRAC was born.

TRAC stands for Tonfanau Racing
Association Club Ltd who are the new
promoting club for Tonfanau Road Races.

The club hopes to take Tonfanau Road Races
forward into the coming years to continue
a great legacy and provide enjoyable racing for all the family.

You can get in touch with the TRAC team using the details on our contact page, or speak to any member of the club at our race events.

For 30 years Lee and his team organised and promoted Tonfanau Road Races at the picturesque circuit on the Welsh Coast pushing through Foot & Mouth in 2001 and more recently Covid 19 to keep racing going.

Sadly, Lee passed away in early 2022 and Crewe & South Cheshire Motor Club ran their last meeting at Tonfanau in August 2022.
